If you can play an instrument, read music, and can commit to Saturday-morning rehearsals, we invite you to join the next JazzAmerica Trad Band.
You'd be in middle school or high school, be able to read music, and be willing to submit a brief e-audition.

JazzAmerica is thrilled to be opening the 2023 Central Avenue Jazz Festival on the Barbara Morrison stage.
For a number of years, the late Ms. Morrison hosted JazzAmerica rehearsals at her eponymous Performing Arts Center in Leimert Park.
We proudly salute the 9th Council District , the home of the historic Central Avenue jazz district.

For a number of years, the late Ms. Morrison hosted JazzAmerica rehearsals at her eponymous Performing Arts Center in Leimert Park.
We proudly salute the 9th Council District , the home of the historic Central Avenue jazz district.
Our co-founder, BUDDY COLLETTE, was a popular figure in the clubs up and down the Avenue - playing woodwinds, writing arrangements and playing in bands that included Chico Hamilton, Lucky Thompson, Britt Woodman, Benny Carter, Lee Young, Gerald Wiggins, and many more.
Buddy helped launch JazzAmerica in 1994. Since then, we've helped meet the needs of hundreds of LA-area youth by providing after-school and weekend 'WorkChops' - tuition-free!
In our first several years, we attracted upwards of 90 students!
We'd like to build the program back up - to offer more classes with more instructors for more students.
We welcome donations large and small.
We are a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization; your donations are tax deductible.
